must hold (digital, seconds) before the device reports it. Saved against
the device type and applied to every device in the series.

device acked the value it applied; not confirmed means it
was sent but not (yet) acknowledged — an offline device picks it up on
reconnect, and firmware older than the config-ack build never acks at all.
